Mood bar and graphic charter conception

Brief

Livoo, a funeral care provider that respects the personality of the deceased, came to my team looking for a new and improved responsive website.
We were tasked with creating everything for the birth of an entrepreneurial project and successfully bringing the project to a fragile and sensitive market.

First meeting with the client

Our first meeting with the project owner was to establish the scope of the project and to understand the design requirements. From this meeting we learned a lot about the company and the issues they were facing as well as the limited budget available and the urgency to get the site online.

Takeaway

---

The takeaway from the meeting was that we needed to create an uplifting and humane design that conveyed a positive emotion for this website. Since the company was also environmentally conscious, we wanted to incorporate nature into their branding and our design.

Creative touch

Use of a reminder of the graphic charter in a creative way during the navigation of the site (menu and ink back to the top)

Gut test

---

To better understand the client's vision for their brand I proposed a gut test. I showed him about 20 images to see what would work for him and what would not.

The client insisted on colour to reflect anything but sadness and through this proposal he realised that this was not the way to go as suggested.

A light colour scheme and a modern architectural structure as proposed to mark uniqueness in the presentation was appreciated.

To provide Belgian quality artisanal products and some others. To have a website that will be a business card and a point of contact for B2B Artisans, bakers, chocolatiers and delicatessens

Takeaway

---

• Sometimes after the UX UI study and the mock-ups created as well as the specifications provided to the developer are not respected because it happens that the projects are reduced in their objectives along the way whether it is from the point of view of the objectives to be reached or from the point of view of a constraint of a reduced development budget. In the end, once the project arrived in implementation, it was designed in the MVP state and remained like that to go into production. In the end, this experience was seen in small companies as well as in large project design departments.
• The UX flows were useful for the customer to understand the user experience. Initially it was stressed that online shopping was only B2B to the point that the client wanted to be asked to create an account very quickly. A pop-up proposal was put forward, but the user flow made it possible to exchange and propose several paths and to be less aggressive in the obligation to register in order to make the purchase. The customer finally chose user flow 2.

Docteur PC is first of all a customer who has great ambitions to become an official PC support and/or supplier troubleshooter in the city of Namur. It aims through its shop to be available in reception but also a digital project of remote support through an application. It aims to build loyalty and wants to present itself as a company focused on human relations and proximity in terms of service.

The project of creating the design of the advertising campaign, as well as the design of the graphic charter, the website and the study of an application to become took 6 months to be implemented and in prod available.

UX study : tools and methodologies

⬥ Mapping and diagrams:

Use case diagrams to explain what the system and actors will do concerning the processes in the system. In designing the use case diagram, this will explain the things that users can do Activity diagrams that describe the various activity flow in the system are designed, and how each system flow begins, decisions occur, and how they end. Sequence diagrams are one of the interaction diagrams that explain how an operation is performed. Method: Sitemap, User flow, Work flow, Scenarios

⬥ The research methodology used and applied:

This research method uses an approach to qualitative research. Data collection was carried out to analyze the information system running to identify users' needs whose information is obtained through observations and interviews with keyinformant (user). 1. Library research is a data collection technique that is the priority. However, this application project is in the process of being launched and it supports above all a logistical and practical system. This limits the need for market-related research.
2. Observation (field study) is a direct observation of the workplace of the work site. In this case the objective is to find out what the client is willing to do with the Available development technology and budget. A set of solutions is established to meet the needs of the community depending on the support.
3. Interviews and survey gatering feedback before and after the prototype stage. 5 people who were new customers to the shop were contacted. Tools: google form, AB testing, oral interview ... 4. Ideation - Know your users : To understand the more in-depth I started off by creating user personas so that i get a bird's eye view of my targeted users behavior pattern, needs, goals ...

After the UX analysis several problems and objective were identified as follows:

PAIN:

○ Customers find it difficult to repair computers due to the lack of affordable service places.
○ Customers need time to do computer repair because computer repair services are far away and cannot be ordered online.
○ Customers find it difficult to find available services because of the lack of available information.
○ Admin has difficulty making reports.

GAIN:

○ Quickly repair the devices. ○ Selling devices in a fast and safe way suitable for clients. ○ Appropirate prices. ○ Remote assistance very comfy.

5. DESIGN : Following the user flow mapping i started the creation of the wireframe. Tools: balsamiq, figma, miro (tools for collaboration and documentation)
6. IMPLEMENTATION: Agile methodology, sprint, be part of the scrum team. TEST: Use of a tool called "Lookback Website" to collect feedback after the test session.

UI conception : tools and technical approach

Carry out the main follow-up of an application to be created while remaining aligned with the principles of architecture and graphic charter used for the other applications of the department. Analysis of areas for improvement and solutions for big screen and mobile displays of an EU application, including building an intuitive information architecture and developing a coherent visual language. Provide support in the follow-up of the 4 other applications of the department from time to time to support.

What I liked

---

I enjoyed being part of the scrum team intensively and I liked the collaboration with the business analysts and the development team. The manager was also great and trusted the skills of the team members. This experience taught me a lot as a user in the context of an application that had very complex procedures. I learned a lot from my collaboration with my UX senior design colleague.

What I liked less

---

The collaboration was also with business analysts from another unit in addition to those from our unit and they were not always aligned in their working directions, which sometimes created great confusion.
